May Breathwork

Hello lovelies, It's been a rainy one over in this part of the world and the grass is green and gorgeous. The rain and greenery had me thinking about the commonly heard phrase, 'April showers bring May flowers!" This is my inspiration for today's tips. Personally, April felt like an emotional whirlwind and I've continually had to bring myself back to the present moment. I was swinging between imagination and reality much more than usual. One moment I felt like I was caught up in my past and the next I was worrying about the future. Then there was a loop!

To take myself off the rollercoaster ride, I employed a multitude of tools including breathwork, mindfulness, IFS, R.A.I.N and meditation. When I share tips and resources I want you to remember that feeling our feelings is normal and healthy. They're here to help us and its often wise to take a moment to feel them and process them if our body feels safe enough to do so. BUT if we feel like our emotions are hijacking us, continuing long past a stimuli, we don't yet know how to 'feel our feelings' or we don't have the time or space to handle them safely in that moment, these tools become extra helpful and I recommend using them. The short version: You can use your body to reconnect your mind to the here and now. First let me share some calming breathwork tips:

Next, let's look at breathwork the whole family can enjoy. The more senses we engage, the easier it can be to bring ourselves back to the present moment. This breathwork engages our sight (especially if we can draw or see a real flower) and brings in a kinesthetic element. Please enjoy, Flower Breathing <3
