June : Building Self-Efficacy

Hello everyone! Welcome back or Hello for the first time! This month's resource focuses on the concept of self-efficacy - similar to, and more commonly referred to, as 'self belief'.

Happiness is a beautiful feeling.

It can be short lived, or enduring and it's something we often hope comes around for frequent visits.

But what researchers have found is that our baseline of contentment is strongly correlated with noting the PROGRESS in our lives, as opposed to perfection (Albert Bandura also wrote about this in his social cognitive theory). This can be progress towards a meaningful goal at school, in the workplace, with friends, or even in our hobbies. As we notice the progress we begin to develop trust in ourselves - trust that we can follow through, trust that we can handle hard things, trust that we can get back up again, and so on.

Noticing meaningful progress in our daily lives helps us to build self-efficacy and ultimately helps create a strong foundation of reoccurring contentment. This month I've included multiple options that you can enjoy or spin off of.

The idea is to work on something over the span of a day or multiple days.

If you and your family have completed your creation in one sitting, try a similar project the next day or even the next week!

Take note of what you and your family have learned or would like to change the next time around :)

Please enjoy this month's challenge :)
